Effective date: June 25, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how SMB Venture Group L.L.C. ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use ChoreTown ("Service"). We are committed to protecting the privacy of families, especially the personal information of children.
Account information: When you register, we collect your email address and name (via Google Sign-In or direct registration).
Family data: We collect the family name and information you voluntarily provide when setting up family profiles, including children's display names and avatar selections (emoji and color). We do not require children's full legal names, birth dates, or any other sensitive personal information.
Usage data: We collect information about how you use the Service, including chore completions, star transactions, reward redemptions, and feature interactions. We use a privacy-conscious product analytics tool to understand this usage (see Section 8).
Calendar data: If you choose to connect a calendar, we store the calendar feed URL you provide so we can fetch and display its events. That URL may itself contain a private access token, so treat it like a password. Feeds are fetched on demand, server-side, and when a feed cannot be reached directly we may route the request through a public proxy service to retrieve it. We do not permanently store the full content of your calendar events, only what is needed to display them in the app at the time you view them.
Communications: We send service emails such as sign-in and password help, family invitations, and (if you turn on chore approvals) a periodic reminder digest of items waiting for your okay. See Section 8 for the provider we use and how to reduce these.
Device information: We may collect basic device and browser information for security and compatibility purposes.
ChoreTown is a service designed for families, operated under the supervision of parents and guardians. We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
What we collect about children: Child profiles within ChoreTown contain only a display name, an emoji avatar, and a color selection. No email address, full legal name, date of birth, physical address, phone number, or any other personally identifiable information is collected from children.
Parental consent: By creating a family account and adding child profiles, the parent or guardian provides consent for the limited collection of their children's display information as described above.
Parental rights: Parents and guardians may review, modify, or delete their children's profiles at any time through the Admin panel. To request complete deletion of all data associated with your children, contact us at smbventuregroupinc@gmail.com.
No direct marketing to children: We do not use children's information for advertising or marketing purposes, and we do not share children's information with third-party advertisers.
We use the information we collect to:
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your information with third-party advertisers. We may share your information only in the following circumstances:
Service providers: We use Supabase (database and authentication infrastructure), Vercel (hosting and serverless functions), Resend (sending the service emails described in Section 1), and PostHog (privacy-conscious product analytics, described in Section 8) to operate the Service. These providers process your data on our behalf under contractual data protection obligations.
Google services: If you sign in with Google or connect a Google Calendar, Google processes your authentication and calendar data under Google's Privacy Policy.
Calendar proxy: When a connected calendar feed cannot be fetched directly, we may pass the feed URL to a public CORS proxy service solely to retrieve the calendar data for display.
Legal requirements: We may disclose your information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request.
Business transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or a portion of our assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
We implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These include encrypted data transmission (HTTPS), database-level row security policies, and authenticated access controls.
However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.
We retain your account and family data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal purposes.
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at smbventuregroupinc@gmail.com. We will respond within 30 days.
ChoreTown uses essential cookies and local storage to maintain your session and remember your family's kiosk settings. We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not sell your data or share it with advertisers.
Product analytics: We use PostHog to understand how the Service is used so we can improve it, for example which features are used and where people get stuck. This includes session replay, which is configured to mask all typed input and on-screen text, so the content of names, chores, and other text is not captured. PostHog respects your browser's "Do Not Track" setting. This analytics is for our own product improvement only; we do not use it to track you across other websites.
Email: We use Resend to send transactional and service emails, including authentication help, family invitations, and, only if you enable chore approvals, a periodic digest reminding you of completions awaiting approval. You can reduce these emails by turning the approval requirement off in Settings, and you can contact us at smbventuregroupinc@gmail.com with any email preferences. Some account-security and account-management emails are essential to operating the Service.
The Service is operated from the United States. If you are accessing the Service from outside the United States, please be aware that your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the effective date at the top of this policy. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy, wish to exercise your rights, or want to report a privacy concern, especially regarding children's data, please contact us:
For COPPA-related inquiries (children's data removal or parental consent questions), please include "COPPA Request" in your email subject line. We will respond within 5 business days.
